Meet Dr. Samuel V. Bartholomew Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Samuel V. Bartholomew is a highly skilled board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery in Portland. He has over 15 years of experience and is known for his expertise in aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction. His personalized approach and attention to detail have earned him recognition as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2017. Dr. Bartholomew has also been recognized in Portland Monthly Magazine as a “Top Doctor” in plastic surgery for 10 years. 

Training & Education

Dr. Bartholomew graduated with a degree in biological sciences from the University of San Diego. He then earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, where his academic achievements positioned him as a leader in his class and president of the medical school students association. Dr. Bartholomew completed his general surgery residency at Oregon Health and Science University and then specialized further with a plastic surgery residency at UC Davis Medical Center.

Dr. Bartholomew was awarded a grant by the French Foundation for Medical Research and Education to study molecular biology and was a research associate at the world renowned Pasteur Institute in Paris, France in 1997. He was awarded a research grant by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2003 and designed a study to investigate tissue engineering in adipose cells using gene therapy.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society. He currently serves as section chief of plastic surgery at Providence Portland Medical Center and holds a leadership role on the Medical Executive Board at Columbia River Surgery Center.
