Dr. Chan offers Asian Rhinoplasty procedures for patients in Vancouver, Portland and surrounding areas of Washington and Oregon.
What is Asian Rhinoplasty?
The objective of most Asian Rhinoplasty procedures is to make the nose more well-defined and prominent. Traditional Rhinoplasty procedures do not work for most of the Asian population; typically the flatter profile needs a higher bridge. Look at our Asian Rhinoplasty before and after photos to see examples of how this procedure differs from a traditional Rhinoplasty procedure.
How Does an Asian Rhinoplasty Differ from a Caucasian Rhinoplasty?
The anatomy of the Asian nose differs from that of a Caucasian nose for many reasons, including:
- Nasal bridge is less prominent
- Nasal bridge is wider and less angular
- Cartilage is more fragile
- Overlying skin tissue is thicker
- Nasal septum is typically not deviated
How is an Asian Rhinoplasty Performed?
As previously mentioned, the goal of an Asian Rhinoplasty is to create a narrower, more defined nose, with a taller nasal bridge. There are various techniques for Asian nose surgery; however the most common involves adding height to the nasal dorsum and bridge. This can be accomplished using a cartilage graft, silicone or gortex implant.
The technique used for your Asian nose surgery will depend greatly on the anatomy of your nose. At your initial consultation, Dr. Chan will evaluate which technique will work best for your anatomy and desired results.
What Can I Expect After an Asian Rhinoplasty?
You will probably experience swelling and bruising following your procedure. The swelling should subside after approximately two to four weeks and it may take up to 12 months until your nose is in its final shape. For this reason, should you want to consider a revision Rhinoplasty you should wait at least one year.
How Much Does an Asian Rhinoplasty Cost?
The cost for a Rhinoplasty will depend on the technique used for surgery and your desired aesthetic results. Dr. Chan and his staff are happy to discuss your Rhinoplasty financing and pricing options at your initial consultation.
